The <i>bateria <\/i>consists of eight instruments. The people in the bateria and sitting in the circle, forming the Roda, are singing. The Berimbau, with its origin in Africa, is the lead instrument of the bateria. In the bateria we use three berimbaus of different pitches: the\u00a0<em>gunga<\/em> with a low pitch, the <em>medio<\/em>, and the high pitched <em>viola<\/em>. Next to the berimbaus we use other percussion instruments: the <em>atabaque<\/em>, two <em>pandeiros<\/em>, the <em>agogo<\/em>, and the <em>reco-reco<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Almost every class, we spend a part on music.
